Konak Institute is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Albanian Muslim cultural heritage through religious education, curriculum development, and institution building. Our mission is to nurture faith, ethics, and tradition by supporting educational initiatives, advancing scholarship, and fostering community engagement. We aim to empower individuals to reconnect with their spiritual heritage, sacred arts, and the intellectual legacy of Islam as lived by Albanians.

At the heart of our work is the project for a Museum of Muslim Life in Tirana. This museum seeks to highlight Albanian Muslim heritage and honor the resilience and richness of Albanian Muslim identity. We offer accessible religious education curriculum through mosque-based classes, homeschooling resources, retreats, seminars, and online programs. Integrating classical Islamic teachings with modern pedagogy and child psychology, our approach responds to today’s challenges with depth and authenticity.

The institute is launching Albania’s first Museum of Muslim Life to preserve and showcase the region’s rich but overlooked Muslim legacy.

This visionary project aims to foster cultural awareness, understanding, & engagement in a post-communist society where Islamic heritage has long been marginalized or erased.

This retreat program fosters Muslim religious literacy through traditionally grounded yet contemporary-aware teachings. The Albanian and Balkan context provides historical and cultural grounding in the broader European Islamic heritage. The travel experience in Ottoman-time çarshias and mosques enriches the experience.

The learning with traditional teachers nurtures spiritual growth and an intellectually confident worldview. Participants explore classical Islamic knowledge contextualized for modern challenges, fostering identity, resilience, and holistic spiritual well-being.
